This is a fantastic book which I have just seen is now in print version as well. Is a great story with engaging pictures and simple to understand words. As a parent of a daughter who just loved horses when she was little, I know that she would have read it over and over again. I have looked at it many times now and find things each time that I didn't pick up the first time. Is a great example of combining simplicity with detail on each page and keeping adults engaged as well. The text at the bottom of the page is great to tie in what has already been learned before. Well done to Ken and Emily...Product details

In My Riding School A to Z Ken Wickenden Emily Clarke 9780473245726 Books Reviews
I came across this little A-Z book recently and I have to say that I like it very much indeed. A refreshing diversion from the `usual' A-Z books that all the pre-schoolers must by now be heartily sick of. The illustrations are particularly attractive and I think the only downside for unsuspecting parents will be extra-early requests from toddlers for `a pony for Christmas' ....... or maybe even - a zebra?
The best reviewers of books for kids are...kids! Having said that, I wanted to read this first because after reading the first couple of pages, I became intrigued about how Ken would tackle the letters Q, X and Z (no spoilers from me here). Ken knows his stuff, there is no doubt about it as despite being the father of two 'horsey' girls and being married to a 'horsey' wife, I was learning a lot about what you'll find at a typical riding school. So, as I turned every page, I marvelled at the illustrations while enjoying the impending excitement of the difficult letters, I found myself laughing out loud at Ken's ingenious revelations. So, what about my girls, what did they think of it? Well, they're 8 and 6 years old and they just loved it. They loved the learning bits of it and really loved the fun bits. It got the big thumbs up from my girls and our 6 year old was able to read it out loud and she couldn't wipe the smile of her face as she did so. Highly recommended.
***I received a complimentary copy provide by the author in exchange for an honest review.*** The illustration in this book is really good. I love horses and to see a children's book with horses and using the alphabet to tell the story. Each page had a different letter but if you look at the bottom of each page it tells the story using the previous pages. I really love the last page that has a cute little poem to it. I really enjoyed this book and I know my grandchildren will too.
What great little book for the kiddo's! With awesome illustrations all through the book. Very important because kids relate to the pictures and it helps builds their imaginations.
Kids can relate words to the alfabet and by what is going on in the photos.Kids are ingaged to learn more about horses and the care of horses in this clever little book. They learn about the equipment that used on the horses as well as riding. There's a wide range of care and love for horses to learn and share. This is a great book for kids to learn responsibility and what it takes to care for a horse. Job well done by the author!
In My Riding School A-Z has clean vivid illustrations. It's great for anyone learning to read the alphabet and it's an engaging picture book and bedtime story.
I found myself enjoying learning and remembering horse names and riding school items. For example
"In my Riding school there is...
An Appaloosa horse to ride.
A quiet horse with a gentle stride."
The rhyming of each line makes it fun to read out loud and in audiences of one or many it's fun to repeat in a lyrical way. It makes a great book for memorizing poems and to delve deeper into the world of riding schools and the many animals and helpers.
My big discovery was the sentence at the bottom of the page, it says "In my riding school there is an Appaloosa, a boy, a cat..." Every page a new item is added and it's great for memory games!
Fair warning, there are are some animals at the riding school you won't see anywhere else!
In My Riding School A-Z has humor and insight from A-Z. Pick up a copy for your favorite classroom, library, animal lover, riding school teacher, pre-school class, horse lover or budding illustrator.
